ALL organized Christian churches require money to exist. In fact, they close down when the money dries up. In other words, money is their master. And Yeshua said you can't serve 2 masters.
Meanwhile, the gospel of the kingdom of God requires no money to advance within our world.

this has always puzzled me. we claim to be doing what God has "called us" to do, whether that's building a church, becoming a social worker, or becoming a christian rock band....but when the money dries up, as you say, we suddened aren't able to do those things any longer. did we lie to ourselves when we said we were "called"? did God lie to us? or did we just think it would be a good idea and wrap it in the shroud of God's purpose?
I think we have destroyed much of the "money" teachings in the scriptures. The predominant "lie" has been giving will magically create financial return. Or if you step out "in faith" God is obligated to provide. I have heard lots of teachings about stepping out in vision will bring God's provision.
I don't think the issue is God, I think it's our faulty understanding of how God provides. Church leadership has somehow carved out a "hallowed" place that says they are entitled to live off of the donations of others. They act like they are the Levites of the OT entitled to a 10% inheritance. That is simply a lie.
We have also heard some lying teaching about "seed" faith. This teaching describes the "seed" as money you put in an offering plate. Whereas, a farmer would have heard the word "seed" to mean something you plant in your own ground and then you can give out of the harvest of this seed.
Most giving has almost nothing to do with meeting "real" needs but rather expenses that were created by the false notion that we need a building and need to pay an able bodied person called a pastor to preach to us. The primitive church would not have understood anything like this. The idea that the weak should support the strong was repugnant to them.
Most of the ways that people make money these days is in isolation of one another. There is little sense of cooperation or working together, except of course the cooperation that comes from people working to make a single owner rich.
When God 'called" Abraham, he called a rich man that had financial freedom to do what God had called him to. Today, we think God's calling also includes the right to special access to money outside of acquiring the skill of making money.
Sorry, for writing so much. I could go on and on as to how screwed up people are because of "false" teachings that are simply designed to manipulate the last buck out of somebody. Suffice to say, the end result has been people left ignorant about the fantastic teachings in the word about money.
